Cruise lines homeporting in the Arabian Gulf are preparing for one of the busiest nights of the winter season, with multiple vessels scheduled to mark New Year’s Eve across the UAE’s principal cruise ports on December 31st.
A diverse mix of international cruise brands will ring in 2026 while docked at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sir Bani Yas Island, including MSC Cruises, Celestyal Cruises, and TUI Cruises, reinforcing the region’s growing position as a winter cruise hub and festive travel destination.
In Abu Dhabi, MSC Euribia will spend New Year’s Eve in port as part of her seven-night Dubai & Middle East itinerary roundtrip from Dubai, offering guests the opportunity to experience the capital’s New Year celebrations while remaining based onboard (the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal offers sweeping views of the city’s skyline and fireworks).

Abu Dhabi has become a focal point for winter cruising in recent years, with modern terminal infrastructure and an expanding calendar of cultural and entertainment events aligned with the cruise season.
Dubai will host Mein Schiff 5 on December 31st during her 11-night itinerary, sailing from Doha to Dubai. The ship’s overnight stay positions passengers to experience Dubai’s globally recognised New Year celebrations, which draw millions of spectators to the city’s waterfront and skyline.
The city continues to serve as the region’s primary embarkation and turnaround port, supported by established cruise terminals and extensive hospitality capacity.
Ras Al Khaimah is also set to play a prominent role in this year’s New Year’s Eve cruise activity. Celestyal Discovery will be alongside on December 31st while operating multiple variations of the Iconic Arabia programme, including seven-night sailings from Abu Dhabi, four-night regional voyages, and a seven-night itinerary from Dubai.

Ras Al Khaimah has steadily expanded its cruise presence over recent seasons, complementing its growing tourism profile with port investments and destination development focused on culture, heritage, and nature-based experiences.
Sir Bani Yas Island will welcome Celestyal Journey on New Year’s Eve as part of her seven-night Desert Days itinerary roundtrip from Doha.
The island, developed as a dedicated cruise destination by Abu Dhabi, offers a distinctive contrast to the region’s urban ports, with wildlife reserves, beaches, and eco-tourism activities forming the centrepiece of the guest experience.
Spending New Year’s Eve at Sir Bani Yas allows cruise passengers to combine festive celebrations onboard with the island’s natural setting.
The clustering of vessels across these ports highlights the UAE’s strengthening position within Middle East winter cruise itineraries. With multiple ships celebrating New Year across several emirates, the region is increasingly capable of hosting large volumes of cruise passengers during peak holiday periods, distributing economic benefits across different destinations while offering travellers varied experiences.
As cruise deployment in the Gulf continues to expand, operators are increasingly aligning itineraries with major calendar events such as Christmas and New Year, reflecting rising demand from both regional residents and international travellers seeking warm-weather alternatives to traditional winter holidays.
The presence of several large ships in UAE ports on December 31st underscores the strategic importance of the country’s cruise infrastructure and its growing appeal as a centrepiece of the global winter cruise season.
