MSC Magnifica emerges from refit and refurbishment with new dining and amenities

MSC Cruises has completed a major refit and refurbishment of MSC Magnifica at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard ahead of her winter Mediterranean deployment and World Cruise.

The work represents one of the most extensive refurbishment projects undertaken by the cruise line in the past decade and includes a full redesign of many public spaces and amenities.

MSC Magnifica, which entered service in 2010, spent approximately two months in dry dock undergoing upgrades across public spaces, dining venues, and wellness facilities.

Following the refit, MSC Magnifica has now resumed operations in the Mediterranean, where guests will have access to a range of newly introduced amenities.

These include two new speciality dining venues, Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar, both of which have been introduced on other ships in the fleet and are now available on MSC Magnifica for the first time.

The refurbishment also includes a comprehensive redesign of the MSC Aurea Spa and the ship’s fitness facilities. The updated spa incorporates additional thermal areas, including sauna, steam, and salt rooms, alongside an expanded treatment offering.

The Technogym Fitness Centre has been upgraded with new equipment, additional workout studios, and panoramic sea views, as well as new spaces dedicated to specific training disciplines.

An expanded outdoor Aurea area has also been added as part of the wellness enhancements.

MSC Cruises confirmed that further changes will be introduced from summer 2026, when MSC Magnifica is scheduled to debut the MSC Yacht Club.

The luxury ship-within-a-ship concept will include 63 suites across five categories, private dining and lounge facilities, a dedicated sundeck with pool, and 24-hour butler and concierge services. The Yacht Club will be available when the ship operates Northern Europe itineraries departing from Warnemünde.

The refurbishment programme extends beyond MSC Magnifica. Her sister ship, MSC Poesia, is scheduled to enter dry dock at the same Maltese shipyard in February 2026 for a similar series of upgrades.

These will include the addition of the MSC Yacht Club with 69 suites, an All-Stars Sports Bar, and the same dining, spa and fitness enhancements introduced on MSC Magnifica. MSC Poesia is expected to return to service in time for her Alaska debut in May 2026.

Following her Mediterranean winter sailings, MSC Magnifica is scheduled to depart on a 132-day World Cruise in January 2026.

In summer 2026, she will operate Northern Europe itineraries from Warnemünde, visiting Baltic capitals and Norwegian fjord destinations before returning to the Mediterranean later in the year.

The ship is also confirmed to operate future world cruises, including a 121-night itinerary in 2027 covering 45 destinations across 25 countries.

This sailing will mark the first time the MSC Yacht Club is offered on a world cruise aboard MSC Magnifica.

Sales have also opened for the 2028 MSC World Cruise, a 115-night voyage spanning the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Pacific, Australasia, Asia and the Arabian Peninsula, including a Panama Canal transit.

MSC Cruises said the refurbishment of MSC Magnifica and the planned upgrades to MSC Poesia form part of a broader fleet investment strategy focused on extending the service life of existing tonnage while aligning onboard offerings more closely with newer ships in the fleet.
