Oceania Cruises has revealed plans for the next generation of its fleet with the unveiling of Oceania Sonata, a 1,390-guest vessel scheduled to enter service in August 2027.
The ship will be the first of four newbuilds in the Sonata Class and the ninth vessel to join the line, which said in the release that the vessel will represent “the latest expression of the brand’s signature blend of intimate, luxurious experiences.”
The new class continues the line’s emphasis on smaller-scale luxury ships, and Oceania Sonata will introduce a range of new accommodation options while retaining a focus on space per guest.

The company said the vessel will be its “most spacious and amenity-rich to date,” with 30% of all accommodations designated as suites. Two new suite categories will debut alongside redesigned Owner’s Suites, and every stateroom and suite will include a private veranda.
“We are delighted to unveil Oceania Sonata, the start of our exciting next chapter, as we forge our fantastic future as leaders in luxury cruising,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises. “Each new ship offers an opportunity to reimagine and perfect the travel experience [and Sonata is] the embodiment of a passion for exquisite cuisine, exceptional service and immersive travel experiences.”
Oceania Cruises said the yacht-style design will “blend grand, light-filled spaces that inspire celebration with serene enclaves designed for relaxation,” with the intention of creating “an ambiance that feels both uplifting and indulgent.”
The ship’s design focus continues the line’s long-standing association with culinary experiences, marketed under the trademark. Onboard dining will include ten culinary venues, combining established guest favourites with new concepts yet to be revealed.
Returning venues include the Grand Dining Room, Jacques, the French fine-dining venue named for Jacques Pépin; Red Ginger, focused on pan-Asian dishes; Polo Grill steakhouse; and Toscana, the brand’s Italian speciality restaurant.
Oceania Sonata is currently under construction at Fincantieri, the Italian shipbuilder that also built Oceania Marina, Oceania Riviera, Oceania Vista, and Oceania Allura.
The ship will measure approximately 86,000 gross registered tons, carry 1,390 passengers, and be staffed by 855 officers and crew.
More detailed information on dining concepts and additional onboard features is expected as the vessel progresses toward its scheduled debut in 2027.
