Crystal Cruises has announced that its upcoming new cruise ship will be named Crystal Grace, marking the company’s first new build in 25 years and the first to be constructed under the ownership of Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group.
The ship is scheduled for delivery in May 2028 and will debut in June 2028 following a series of preview sailings.
According to Crystal, the new vessel represents a significant step in the evolution of the brand, aiming to combine elements of its earlier fleet with updated design and operational features.
“Crystal Grace…reflects the effortless elegance, generous spirit, and sense of tranquility that define the Crystal experience,” said Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group. “With this ship, we are honouring our heritage while continuing to evolve for a new generation of guests.”
The 61,800-gross-ton ship will accommodate 650 passengers based on double occupancy, offering all-suite accommodation and a number of dining venues, including Umi Uma, the only Nobu restaurant at sea; Beefbar, also exclusive to the cruise industry; and menus developed by the Michelin-starred Alajmo brothers at Osteria d’Ovidio. These dining options will be included in the voyage fare.
Crystal Grace will also feature a full-perimeter promenade deck, one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in its segment, and a selection of entertainment and leisure spaces consistent with the brand’s established style.
Abercrombie & Kent will provide the land-based programme for the ship, supported by its global network of destination management companies. Crystal noted that this integrated approach positions the line as the only operator with in-house worldwide shore-side capabilities of this scale.
Further details on suite categories are expected in December, with additional information on design features, itineraries and onboard services to follow. The inaugural 2028 season is scheduled to go on sale in April 2026.
Crystal Grace is the first of two new cruise ships planned for the cruise line, with both to be constructed by Italian shipyard Fincantieri. The order includes an option for a third ship, for delivery in 2032.
The new vessel orders are part of a broader fleet modernisation and upgrade programme being pursued by Crystal. Crystal Symphony debuted an entirely redesigned casino last year, and underwent a more extensive refit and refurbishment in August. Fleetmate Crystal Serenity, meanwhile, underwent her own refit prior to the cruise line’s re-launch under A&K ownership.
