Disney Cruise Line delays Disney Adventure debut, cancelling 24 cruises

Disney Cruise Line has announced a delay in the delivery of its newest ship, Disney Adventure, pushing the maiden voyage back by three months.

The vessel, originally scheduled to enter service on December 15th, 2025, will now begin sailing on March 10th, 2026, due to delays in converting the partially completed ship into a Disney-branded cruise experience.

The ship, acquired in November 2022, is being extensively reworked to meet Disney Cruise Line’s standards, and company president Joe Schott said the decision was made to ensure quality.

“As we work on the final touches to bring the Disney Adventure to our guests, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process,” he said in a letter to booked guests. “To ensure the experience we deliver reflects our commitment to excellence, we’ve made the decision to adjust our timeline. We know this may be disappointing to our guests, and we’re working directly with them to offer flexible rebooking options and uphold the trust they place in us.”

Passengers booked on the maiden voyage will automatically be moved to the rescheduled March 10th sailing and will receive a 50% discount on the fare. Those unable to travel on the new date will be offered a 50% discount on a future cruise, valid across the Disney fleet for sailings departing on or before March 31st, 2027, provided the booking is made by March 31st, 2026.

The line confirmed that 24 voyages between December 18th, 2025, and March 12th, 2026, are cancelled.

Guests on these sailings will receive an automatic refund and the same 50% discount on a future cruise, subject to conditions. The discount applies only to the voyage fare for a new booking and does not cover taxes, fees, or port expenses.

It is non-transferable, has no cash value, and must be used by the named guest on the cancelled sailing. Once a new booking is made with the discount, no name changes are allowed, and the offer cannot be combined with other promotions. Blockout dates also apply.

Disney Adventure is being designed as a one-of-a-kind ship featuring new entertainment and dining concepts alongside familiar Disney experiences.

It will be the first ship in the fleet to be based in Asia, homeporting from Singapore, and is the largest cruise vessel ever built for the line, featuring capacity for more than 6,000 passengers, new entertainment and dining concepts, and dedicated spaces designed to deliver experiences unique to the Disney brand.

Disney Adventure will introduce themed areas inspired by Disney, Pixar and Marvel stories, along with new interactive attractions designed specifically for the ship.

The vessel will feature seven distinct zones, including family-friendly play spaces, dedicated entertainment venues, and immersive dining experiences that combine live performance with storytelling.

Plans also include a Marvel Style Studio for character-inspired makeovers, a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for children, and large-scale production shows unique to the ship, alongside innovative dining and recreation concepts not found elsewhere in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
