Silversea Cruises adds new experiences in South Africa for 2026 World Cruise

Silversea has unveiled a series of updates to its 2026 World Cruise, The Curious and the Sea, introducing new events, culinary experiences, and entertainment features, including new destination events in Cape Town, South Africa.

The cruise will depart Fort Lauderdale on January 6th, 2026, aboard Silver Dawn, and conclude in Lisbon on May 27th, 2026, visiting destinations across six continents.

The voyage is intended to follow in the spirit of early explorers, with a focus on cultural encounters, local traditions, and regional cuisines.

Vergelegen Conservatory, Cape Town

Two additional events have now been confirmed:

  • Feast of Flowers in Funchal – Madeira, Portugal: Timed with the island’s annual flower festival, this farewell event will reflect the region’s vibrant traditions and floral heritage.

Culinary programme expands with guest chefs

Silversea’s S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) programme will return on board Silver Dawn, featuring a series of culinary events both at sea and ashore. Guest chefs joining the voyage include:

  • Pia Quintana Beristain, known for her work in Mexican cuisine
  • Michael Demagistris, Australian chef and former MasterChef finalist
  • Celia Lam, expert in sustainable food and wellness
  • Alexander Smalls, Grammy, Tony and James Beard Award-winning chef and opera singer, noted for his Afro-Asian American culinary fusion

These chefs will offer S.A.L.T.-inspired dining experiences, live demonstrations, and culinary discussions.

Entertainment highlights

Entertainment on board will include a performance by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, evoking the Big Band era during the cruise’s West Africa segment.

Additional performances and activities will be tailored to specific ports, showcasing regional music, dance, and storytelling. These cultural offerings aim to provide deeper engagement with local communities throughout the voyage.
