Disney Cruise Line is preparing for a major milestone as its newest and largest ever ship, Disney Adventure, prepares to leave the shipyard in Wismar, Germany, for the first time in August.

Currently in the final stages of construction at the MV Werften facility, the vessel is scheduled to begin sea trials on August 30th, 2025. 

According to German media outlet Ostsee Zeitung, more than 1,400 workers will be onboard as the ship makes a technical call at the island of Rügen before sailing into the North Sea for a week of testing.

Following the first round of sea trials, Disney Adventure will dock in Bremerhaven during the week of September 8th for additional finishing work at the cruise terminal. A second series of sea trials is planned before the ship’s expected delivery in late September.

After handover, the vessel is set to visit the Dutch port of Eemshaven before departing for Singapore in early October.

Originally commissioned for Genting’s Dream Cruises, construction on the 208,000-ton ship was paused when the company collapsed in 2022. Disney Cruise Line acquired the unfinished vessel and brought in Meyer Werft to complete the build.

With capacity for 6,000 guests, Disney Adventure will become the largest ship in the Disney fleet and the first to be based in Southeast Asia. 

It is scheduled to begin sailing year-round from Singapore on December 15th, 2025. Its maiden voyage will be a three-night cruise to nowhere, departing from Marina Bay Cruise Terminal and spending two days at sea before returning to port.

In a separate development, Disney Cruise Line has unveiled a new superhero-themed feature aboard the Disney Destiny, another upcoming ship due for delivery in late 2025.

In a Facebook post, the company revealed that a Spider-Man figurine has been added to the stern of the vessel. 

“Spider-Man has swung onto the Disney Destiny’s stern, and it’s nothing short of amazing,” the company announced.

Disney Destiny, which first touched water at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg in March, will homeport year-round in Fort Lauderdale. It is slated to offer 4- and 5-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas beginning in November 2025.

The ship will feature a wide array of Marvel-themed experiences, including a Grand Hall inspired by Black Panther, an entertainment parlour themed around Doctor Strange, and a luxury tower suite paying tribute to Iron Man.
