MSC Cruises unveils 50% discount for 2nd guest ahead of 2025/26 SA cruise season

MSC Cruises has launched a special promotion for the upcoming 2025/26 cruise season out of Durban, offering guests 50% off the second passenger on select sailings aboard MSC Opera.

The offer is valid until May 31st and applies to 3- and 4-night roundtrip cruises to Mozambique, with fares starting from R7,650 per cabin.

Departing from Durban, these itineraries offer sun-soaked escapes to destinations such as Portuguese Island and Pomene Bay, where white-sand beaches and calm lagoons await.

With the region’s warm weather and natural beauty, these short cruises have long been a favourite among South African travellers seeking convenient, close-to-home getaways.

Returning to Durban for another homeport season, MSC Opera brings with her a blend of timeless style and family-friendly amenities. The ship, accommodating around 2,600 guests, offers a refined, relaxed onboard experience designed to suit both first-time cruisers and seasoned travellers.

The ship offers four main restaurants catering to a variety of tastes, from classic Mediterranean cuisine at the La Caravella and L’Approdo dining rooms, casual fare at the Le Vele buffet, to freshly prepared pizza and grilled favourites at Il Patio, an outdoor dining spot with ocean views.

A selection of eight bars and cafés across the ship ensures there’s always a space to unwind — whether it’s with a morning coffee at Aroma Café, a sunset cocktail at Lo Spinnaker pool bar, or a nightcap at La Cabala piano bar or the Sotto Vento pub.

Health and wellness facilities include two swimming pools, whirlpools, a spa and gym, and a power walking track that loops along Deck 6’s side promenades. For families, the Doremi Spray Park and mini-golf offer outdoor fun, while children have access to dedicated clubs for every age group, from babies and juniors to teens.

Evenings onboard are brought to life with a diverse range of entertainment. The grand Dell’Opera Theatre hosts live shows each night, while those seeking livelier options can visit the Byblos disco or try their luck in the Med Pearl casino.

Social spaces like the Piazza di Spagna and Cotton Club lounges provide a more laid-back atmosphere, and the ship also features a library, card room, video arcade, and internet centre for guests who prefer quiet moments.

The 2025/26 season reflects MSC Cruises’ continued investment in the South African market, with MSC Opera offering reliable, well-rounded cruise experiences departing directly from Durban.
