StarCruises and Dream Cruises have officially relaunched in Asia, after being folded into the Resorts World Cruises group following the pandemic bankruptcy of parent company Genting Hong Kong. 

A relaunch ceremony was held aboard Star Voyager in Singapore, which will begin homeporting operations from the city state on March 26th. Star Voyager will offer itineraries calling at destinations such as Jakarta, Melaka, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

The event marked a new chapter for both brands, which share a 30-year history and narrowly avoided full liquidation, like sister brand Crystal Cruises, which also briefly suspended operations when Genting shut down. 

Both brand’s vessels have been extensively upgraded ahead of the relaunch. Star Voyager alone has undergone a major refit and refurbishment worth more than US $50 million.

“We are thrilled and honoured to return to our roots with the launch of the revitalised StarCruises and Dream Cruises brands, offering an enhanced cruising experience,” said Michael Goh, President of StarCruises and Dream Cruises. 

“To celebrate this milestone, we are also excited to introduce the Star Voyager, as she embarks on her maiden voyage from Singapore, exploring the wonders of Southeast Asia,” he added.

Star Voyager’s seasonal homeporting in Singapore, along with the introduction of several new Southeast Asian itineraries, marks a significant milestone for the city’s cruise sector. 

The deployment strengthens the diversity of cruise offerings available from Singapore and reflects growing confidence in the city’s status as a flourishing regional cruise hub. 

As one of Asia’s leading gateways for cruise tourism, Singapore continues to enhance its offerings for both local travellers and international visitors.

The return of StarCruises to Singapore Cruise Centre is also viewed as a meaningful homecoming. The line’s first vessel, Langkapuri Star Aquarius, was homeported at the terminal over three decades ago in 1993. 

This latest development sees that long-standing relationship renewed.

Passengers sailing aboard Star Voyager will benefit from the terminal’s strategic HarbourFront location, which offers seamless access to a wide range of amenities and attractions. 

With more than one million square feet of retail and dining space, a convenient multi-modal transport hub, and proximity to Sentosa Island just across the bay, the terminal continues to serve as a preferred port for small and mid-sized cruise ships operating in the region.
