Cape Town and Dubai to feature prominently in Silversea 2028 World Cruise

Silversea has announced its world cruise for 2028, departing from Miami on January 5th aboard Silver Shadow for a 132-day journey calling at 58 destinations in 29 countries before concluding in Nice on May 16th.

This itinerary marks the first time a Silversea world cruise will depart from Miami and explores the Caribbean, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, connecting over 30 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Guests will experience curated events and optional overland tours designed to offer exclusive access and deeper cultural immersion. In anticipation of a resolution to the ongoing Red Sea security issues, Silversea has re-introduced a Suez Canal transit into its world cruise itineraries.

Silver Shadow

“Our 2028 world cruise, an ode to the moment, is designed to slow time, offering deeper exploration of each destination,” said Bert Hernandez, President of Silversea. “With our unrivalled destination expertise, we guide guests to both iconic landmarks and hidden gems, ensuring they experience the world at its finest.”

“Exclusive events, special access, and optional overland tours create once-in-a-lifetime moments unique to Silversea’s world cruises,” he added.

The voyage will travel further south and visit smaller, lesser-known destinations, immersing guests in local cultures. Structured into nine themed segments, including a departure from Cape Town, the World Cruise is designed to offer a deeper connection to each region.

Anthem of the tropics

Sailing from Miami to Cartagena, this segment includes visits to Willemstad, Jost Van Dyke, Gustavia, and Kralendijk. Extended port stays will allow guests to explore both the popular and hidden sides of the Caribbean.

Reign of the rainforest

As the journey continues south from Cartagena to Valparaiso, guests will experience the diversity of South American cuisine, including a Colombian coffee workshop in Cartagena as part of the first S.A.L.T. shore experience.

Highlights include crossing the Panama Canal and a private event, a garden of moments, at the Pedro de Osma Museum in Lima.

Lands of fire and ice

Sailing from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires, this segment follows the route of early explorers around the infamous Cape Horn. Guests will witness the landscapes of Patagonia and the Chilean fjords while encountering local wildlife, including sea lions and penguins.

Culinary experiences will feature Chilean curanto, Argentinian Malbec wines, and asado barbecue. An optional overland tour offers a visit to Iguazu Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The beat of tradition

This segment brings guests into the heart of South American culture, including a front-row experience at Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival, with seats in the Sambódromo to witness the spectacle of samba performances.

The sands of time

Sailing east across the Atlantic, guests will visit St. Helena before reaching Africa. Destinations include Walvis Bay and the Namibian coast before arriving in Cape Town, where an optional overland tour offers a night on Table Mountain.

Nature in verse

From South Africa to Mauritius, this segment combines game drives and cultural experiences. Guests will visit Ile aux Cerfs, a private island in Mauritius, for a day of relaxation, a Creole lunch, and traditional Mauritian sega dancing.

Tales of spice and silk

This portion of the journey offers 10 days of exploration in the Arabian Peninsula, with overnight stays in Muscat, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. An optional overland tour from Mahe to Muscat includes a trek into Rwanda to see silverback gorillas in their natural habitat.

The ancient realm

Exploring the Red Sea and some of the world’s most historic sites, this segment includes Petra, Luxor, and the Valley of the Kings.

Echoes of empires

The final stretch of the world cruise explores lesser-visited parts of the Mediterranean, including Milos, Agropoli, and Diano National Park. The journey will conclude with a private farewell event, a timeless farewell, exclusive to world cruise guests.

Silver Shadow will serve as the home for guests throughout the journey, offering one of the highest space-to-guest ratios at sea. The ship’s smaller size allows access to ports unavailable to larger vessels. All guests will benefit from butler service and a high crew-to-guest ratio, ensuring a personalised experience.

Silversea will open an exclusive pre-sale for the World Cruise 2028 to all Venetian Society members on March 13th, with general sales opening on March 20th.
