Silver Screen Bistro
Norwegian Breakaway has arrived at the Damen shipyard in Brest, France, for a significant refit and refurbishment project ahead of her deployment to the Mediterranean.
The vessel arrived in Brest on February 20th, following a week-long trans-Atlantic repositioning cruise. During the three-week refit, she will undergo regular maintenance and class work, in addition to extensive enhancements to public areas and cabins.
Norwegian Breakaway will emerge in March with more onboard guest experiences, including a brand-new cinema and dining experience, Silver Screen Bistro; a new outdoor recreational concept, Horizon Park; as well as the extension of popular dining venues such as Cagney’s Steakhouse.
One of the biggest changes is the new Horizon Park on the top deck, a versatile, outdoor gathering space featuring a variety of experiences from lawn-style games such as cornhole to giant Jenga and reclining loungers for sunbathing.
Horizon Park will offer sweeping views of the ocean while providing a space for guests to come together in a laidback, relaxed environment.
Another new area coming to Norwegian Breakaway is the Silver Screen Bistro, an immersive movie and dining venue for guests of all ages.
Replacing the Spiegel Tent, the industry-first concept will offer comfortable, oversized recliners and retractable tables to enjoy shareable handheld menu items. These include select dishes from the global fusion specialty restaurant, Food Republic.
As a result of its popularity on the Prima Class ships, Norwegian Breakaway will debut The Stadium, a complimentary outdoor activities concept offering family-friendly games.
Additionally, guest-favorite restaurant Cagney’s Steakhouse will replace Moderno Churrascaria to add more seating to the venue, and Ocean Blue will become Palomar, while Vibe Beach Club, the adults-only outdoor venue, and The Haven Sundeck will be expanded to feature additional seating and cabanas.
Following the completion of her three-week dry dock, Norwegian Breakaway will sail a variety of 9-to-11-night itineraries from Barcelona, Spain and Venice (Trieste), Italy.
These cruises will visit European cities including Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy; Palma (Majorca), Spain; Cannes, France; Corfu, Greece; and more.
In late November, the vessel returns to North America for a winter season sailing from New York City to the Caribbean, Florida and the Bahamas.
This refit marks the first major refurbishment for Norwegian Breakaway. Launch in 2013, the ship is the class leader in the eponymously named class of ships for Norwegian Cruise Line.
A sister ship to Norwegian Bliss, these 3,600+ guest vessels are built to a similar design as Cruise Saudi brand AROYA Cruises’ first ship, Aroya, which launched service in the Red Sea late last year.
