Fincantieri has delivered Mein Schiff Relax to TUI Cruises, marking a significant milestone for the German cruise line’s fleet expansion.
The handover ceremony took place at the Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, where the vessel was formally transferred to TUI Cruises’ management.
Mein Schiff Relax is the first of two InTUlition class ships that Fincantieri is constructing for TUI Cruises, featuring a state-of-the-art design with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The second ship in the class is scheduled to enter service in mid-2026.

As TUI Cruises continues its commitment to greener cruising, these vessels represent the next generation of eco-friendly ships, integrating advanced technologies to reduce emissions and minimise environmental impact.
According to Fincantieri’s press release, the Italian Minister for Relations with Parliament, Luca Ciriani, attended the ceremony, wherein Biagio Mazzotta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fincantieri, and Pierroberto Folgiero, the CEO, and Managing Director, formally handed over the ship to Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.
Also present were Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri’s Merchant Ships Division, along with TUI Cruises executives, including Chief Financial Officer Frank Kuhlmann, and Mein Schiff Relax’s Captain, Tom Roth.
TUI Cruises emphasised that the new ship represents a major step forward in cruise ship innovation, serving as the foundation for the line’s future fleet.

Designed with a focus on operational efficiency and sustainability, the vessel is dual-fuel powered, capable of running on both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine gas oil (MGO). The ability to use low-emission fuels is a crucial aspect of TUI Cruises’ goal of achieving climate-neutral operations.
In addition to LNG propulsion, Mein Schiff Relax features cutting-edge environmental technologies, including catalytic converters that meet Euro 6 standards, a generative turbine that captures and repurposes waste heat from the diesel generators, and an advanced shore-power connection that allows for nearly emission-free port operations—expected to cover approximately 40% of the ship’s operational time.
Furthermore, the ship is equipped with an innovative waste treatment system capable of transforming organic waste into recyclable materials.
Onboard, guests can enjoy spacious ocean-view spa facilities, an expansive pool deck, gourmet dining venues, and immersive entertainment. The ship also features innovative fitness areas, serene relaxation lounges, and eco-conscious lifestyle experiences.
