Red Sea crisis of 2024 fails to put Cunard Line off the Middle East in 2026 itineraries

Cunard has announced new cruises sailing from September 2025 through January 2027 onboard its four Queens, with the 109-night World Cruise aboard Queen Anne calling in the Middle East.

The decision to return to the region comes despite the disruption to Queen Mary 2’s current World Cruise due to the Red Sea crisis, with the ship having had to cancel its planned port calls in Dubai and the wider Middle East on the back of ongoing security concerns.

Houthi militia in Yemen have been attacking shipping in the Red Sea with drones and missiles, sinking or disabling several dozen vessels and prompting shipping lines and cruise ships to avoid the region, sailing around the tip of Africa instead.

Queen Anne to cruise via Dubai on 2025 World Cruise

Cunard Line is anticipating that the situation will be resolved by 2025, however, and will be routing its Queen Anne World Cruise through the region.

This comes alongside the release of more than 300 new voyages across the line’s fleet of four ships for 2025 and 2026. The cruise line is set to visit 184 destinations worldwide, including 70 countries and 108 UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The new program also includes 37 overnight port calls and five maiden calls in Kona, Hawaii; Roatan, Honduras; Dakar, Senegal; Miami, FL; and Molde, Norway.

Queen Anne and Queen Mary 2 will simultaneously sail World Voyages beginning in January 2026, visiting cities such as New York, Buenos Aires, Dubai, and Melbourne. Queen Anne will also call in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, during the voyage.

Queen Elizabeth will offer 33 Caribbean voyages sailing roundtrip from Miami, visiting island towns of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Roatan, Honduras; as well as Tortola, Antigua, Barbados, and St Lucia.

“We are incredibly excited to have both Queen Anne and Queen Mary 2 offer full World Voyages in 2026,” said Katie McAlister, president of Cunard. “We are so thrilled that our guests will, for the first time ever, have the opportunity to transit the Panama Canal on Queen Mary 2.”

“Queen Elizabeth will also take in a new program to the Caribbean, sailing roundtrip from Miami, giving guests expanded opportunities to delve into this tropical region while experiencing the unparalleled luxury of sailing aboard a Cunard ship,” she added.

Highlights of Cunard’s new program include:

The 109-night World Voyage onboard the Queen Anne, Departing on Jan 11, 2026;

The seven-night Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing on the Queen Mary 2, Departing from New York on September 13, 2026;

The 14-night Italy, France and Spain voyage onboard the Queen Victoria, departing June 15, 2026;

The 21-night Caribbean Celebration onboard the Queen Elizabeth, departing Dec 18, 2025.
