Silversea to return to South Africa again for 2024/25 with Silver Spirit

Silversea will be returning Silver Spirit to Cape Town, South Africa for the 2024/25 cruise season, sailing three 15-night roundtrip voyages.

Silver Spirit will visit ports in both South Africa and Namibia on these cruises, all three of which feature identical itineraries.

This will mark Silversea’s return to South Africa after it sailed a similar homeporting season during 2023/24 in Cape Town.

Silver Spirit

On January 23rd, February 7th, and February 22nd, 2025, Silver Spirit will set out from Cape Town on a 15-night cruise that visits Richard’s Bay, Durban, East London, and Port Elizabeth in South Africa, along with Luderitz and Walvis Bay in Namibia.

Silversea calls this itinerary “a southern African adventure bookended by Cape Town’s lively streets and famous flat-topped mountain”.

Silver Spirit will first sail northward from Cape Town up the glittering, Diamond Coast to Namibia, where a huge pink haze of flamingos waits in Walvis Bay’s scenic lagoon, and German art nouveau architecture sits incongruously in Luderitz amid the scorched desert that surrounds the formerly colony.

Silver Spirit then spends two days at sea cruising south for South Africa’s Sunshine Coast, calling in Port Elizabeth, home to unspoiled beaches and rolling sand dunes on the warm Indian Ocean, as well as East London, home to the Xhosa people, a proud tribe with a rich and ancient culture.

Although founded by the British in 1847, East London has been inhabited for time immemorial, the oldest footprints in the world, at 200,000 years, have been found nearby.

In Richard’s Bay and Durban, passengers can come face to face with South Africa’s famed “big five” animals, as they rove expansive reserves, or simply luxuriate on expansive beaches, with whales breaching offshore.

On all three of these itineraries, the port calls in Walvis Bay and Port Elizabeth are overnight stays in port, giving passengers more time to explore the hinterland attractions of both destinations.

When she returns to Cape Town on March 9th, 2025 after her final 15-night roundtrip voyage, Silver Spirit will set off on a 16-night repositioning cruise to Mahe in the Seychelles, from which she’ll then sail another 16-night itinerary to Doha, Qatar.
