Silversea 2023/24 South African season will conclude with cruise to Dubai

Silversea will sail a full South African cruise season out of Cape Town during 2023/24, after several years of using the city as a turnaround port on its grand voyages from Africa.

Silver Spirit will cruise roundtrip from Cape Town three times during December, 2023 and January, 2024, before departing on a 31-night grand voyage to Dubai.

Each of the 15-night roundtrip Cape Town cruises will focus on South Africa and Namibia, with overnight calls in Walvis Bay, Richard’s Bay and Durban.

The full itinerary features port calls in Cape Town, Mossel Bay, Durban, and Richard’s Bay in South Africa, as well as Walvis Bay and Luderitz in Namibia.

Unusually for most luxury cruise lines homeporting in Cape Town, Silversea will not stay overnight in port, although the cruise line does offer extensive pre- and post-cruise land programs.

Silver Spirit will sail these 15-night roundtrip Cape Town cruises on December 28th, 2023, and January 12th and 27th, 2024. The grand voyage to Dubai will then depart February 11th.

Silver Spirit will stay overnight in Durban on her SA itineraries

“This Cape Town to Cape Town return trip offers the very best of Namibia and South Africa’s coastal cities,” says Silversea.

“Start with the raw drama of Luderitz, before sailing to the cusp of the sun-scorched Namib Desert for an overnight in Walvis Bay,” it adds.

“Two sea days lead you to Mossel Bay, before another sea day delivers you to Durban and Richards Bay. Enjoy an overnight in both of these unpretentious African ports before two days of sailing take you back to beautiful Cape Town.”

Bar & Lounge aboard Silver Spirit

Silver Spirit is one of Silversea’s older cruise ships. She was delivered in 2009, but in 2018 underwent a bow-to-stern refit and renovation that saw her cut in half and a 5-metre new midsection was inserted, increasing her passenger capacity and adding new pool deck space and public rooms.

The ship now features one of the highest space to guest ratios in the business and eight luxury dining options.

“Silver Spirit offers its guests one of the most complete cruise experiences available,” says Silversea. “Spacious decks leave plenty of room for relaxation, yet the cosy niches make sure that there is something for everyone.”
