Explora Journeys shows off new Homes at Sea concept aboard Explora I

Explora Journeys has revealed the Homes at Sea accommodation concept that will debut aboard Explora I when she begins operations in July this year.

The new accommodation concept features Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences onboard Explora I, featuring elements such as natural light, color, space, privacy, and connection with the sea.

According to Explora Journeys, the intention was to create a stateroom design that offers a luxurious but intimate retreat for guests to enjoy, while also limiting the use of materials that aren’t eco-friendly.

“Environmental respect and sustainability have been key in design choices, ensuring a balance between the tactile and visual experience of every material used,” said Jason Gelineau, Head of Product at Explora Journeys.

“Eco-friendly details such as refillable bathroom amenities have also been weaved into the suite offering and where feasible, we are sourcing sustainable products including B Corp-certified items. We will also have a no single-use plastic policy onboard,” he added.

Ocean Penthouse

The Ocean Penthouses range from 463 – 732 square feet and feature floor-to-ceiling windows and terraces, as well as a private dining area for four. They also include heated floors in the bathrooms, wireless bed-side charging and a personal mini-bar among other amenities.

Residence exterior

The larger Ocean Residences range from 753 – 1604 square feet and feature a panoramic ocean-front terrace with a private outdoor whirlpool. Each residence also includes a dining table and sun loungers. There are four unique types of residences to select: Cocoon, Cove, Retreat and Serenity.

To bring the designs to life, Explora Journeys worked with luxury brands such as Molteni&C, a high-end furniture brand with 100 percent Italian production. Their style is reflected in Explora I’s sofas and chairs as well as outdoor furniture for some terraces.

Dining Room in Residence

In addition to the penthouses and residences, Explora Journeys has selected notable artists to showcase their work onboard. Each suite will feature a master artwork in the living room as well as some complementary pieces and decorative elements.

Explora Journeys will cruise from the Middle East and Africa in 2024 and 2025, with departures announced for Cape Town, Durban and Mombasa, a cruise from Saudi Arabia, and a voyage from Dubai.
