Carnival Jubilee delivery pushed back two months to December 2023

Carnival Cruise Line has delayed the delivery of Carnival Jubilee, its third Excel class cruise ship, by two months due to ongoing supply chain disruptions.

The cruise line has cancelled the first six cruises aboard Carnival Jubilee and pushed her delivery back from October to December 2023.

The first cruise is now scheduled to depart Galveston, Texas on December 23rd, 2023, after Carnival Jubilee completes a rapid delivery voyage from the shipyard in Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.

Carnival Jubilee under construction

The ship was initially meant to sale a leisurely repositioning cruise from Southampton in the UK to Galveston on October 30th. This cruise, and five Caribbean voyages, have been cancelled.

“This is disappointing news, but with the notification from the shipyard, we are advising our guests as quickly as we can,” said Christine Duffy, President, Carnival Cruise Line.

“We appreciate their understanding as we work to deliver another spectacular ship that will provide a vacation experience our guests deserve and will absolutely love,” she added.

According to Carnival Cruise Line, the shipyard has cited ongoing supply chain delays as the reason for the delay to the ship’s delivery.

Supply chain disruptions have forced the delay of construction for several major cruise ship projects for all the major cruise lines.

Carnival Jubilee rendering

Carnival Jubilee is the third Excellence-class cruise ship to be built by Meyer-Werft, but is the first Carnival Cruise Line ship built in Papenburg, Germany. Meyer Turku in Finland delivered sister ship Mardi Gras last year and will deliver Carnival Celebration later this year.

Carnival Jubilee will be Carnival’s third ship to run on a liquified natural gas (LNG) technology platform as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to reduce emissions and make its business more environmentally sustainable.

The ship, alongside Carnival Celebration, is themed around celebrations of Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th year of operations, its Golden Jubilee, which was marked earlier this year.

Carnival Cruise Line has not revealed many details on the features and amenities to be found aboard Carnival Jubilee, but as a sister ship to Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration she will feature six separate themed ‘zones’, a BOLT roller coaster, and more.

These vessels are the largest ever built for Carnival Cruise Line, featuring 12 restaurants, 28 cafes and bars, five pools up on the pool deck and at Summer Landing down on the stern, as well as a spa, theatre, casino, three lounges and even a video games arcade and expansive retail area.
