Former Cunard liner turned floating hotel QE2 Dubai reveals Christmas plans

The QE2 Dubai, the floating hotel in Port Rashid that used to operate as a Cunard Line ocean liner, has announced its line-up of Christmas and New Year activities and dining experiences.

QE2 Dubai will mark the start to the festive season with the lighting of a massive Christmas Tree on the stern of the ship at the alfresco Pavilion restaurant, which occupies the space that used to be the ship’s pool deck.

The tree lighting will take place on December 9th, the second Friday of December, with the first being dedicated to National Day celebrations on December 2nd.

The tree lighting ceremony aboard QE2 features carollers, Santa and a gala dinner

At the party there will be carollers, as well as a visit from Santa Claus for the children, and a dinner buffet at the Lido restaurant.

The Lido is the ship’s main restaurant, and formerly operated as the buffet when the ship was a trans-Atlantic liner and cruise ship. It offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet daily.

The even more upscale Queen’s Grill (which used to be the ship’s first class dining room) will offer a festive-inspired afternoon tea complete with mint hot chocolate or mulled wine throughout the month.

The Queen’s Grill will celebrate Christmas Day with a Royal Roast serving turkey, beef, chicken and lamb accompanied by an assortment of sides and traditional British Christmas dishes.

On December 26th, known as St. Stephen’s Day or Boxing Day, the feasting continues at The Golden Lion with roast carving stations.

The Theatre by QE2 will also host a number of festive shows for the whole family. Magic Phil will be back on December 10th & 11th with his popular Starlight Safari show.

Christmas dinner will be held at the Pavilion, along with a New Year gala dinner.

The QE2’s Annual Christmas Show is also back from December 16th to 26th – combining magic, myth, fantasy and legend to create a spellbinding story which will enthrall children and adults alike.

New Year’s Eve at the QE2 will be held under the stars at The Pavilion, overlooking Dubai’s glistening skyline, with the hotel offering a special New Year’s Eve package from December 30th, 2022 until January 1st, 2023.

Rates start at AED2,999 per room with two guests sharing and includes a gala dinner and breakfast. The QE2 Dubai is also offering Afternoon Tea vouchers in the Queen’s Grill as Christmas presents.
