Celebrity to homeport Edge-class ship in UK for full season for first time

Celebrity Cruises is homeporting an Edge-class cruise ship in the UK for a full season for the first time in 2024.

Celebrity Apex will replace the recently revitalized Celebrity Silhouette in sailing roundtrip from Southampton on itineraries ranging from 4 to 13 nights.

“This truly is an exciting moment for us,” said Lisa Lutoff Perlo, President & CEO of Celebrity Cruises. “Having one of our award-winning Edge Series ships sailing from Southampton will offer an experience like no other from the UK, connecting guests to the world around them through the innovative outward-facing design and visionary spaces these celebrated ships are known for.”

Celebrity Apex will offer a range of different cruises from the UK, including a 12-night Norwegian Fjords and Arctic Circle cruise, including calls in Tromso and Honnigsvag, and a new itinerary to Ibiza on a Mediterranean cruise.

Shorter cruises will call in Northern Europe during the season, which will run from May to November, 2024.

Celebrity Cruises Vice President & Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Jo Rzymowska, said the upgrade to Celebrity Apex was a reflection of robust demand for cruising from the UK market.

Celebrity Apex is a sister ship to Celebrity Edge and the second ship of the eponymous class, which also includes Celebrity Beyond. A further two are on order.

The Edge class offered a range of design elements that broke the traditional cruise mold, including the lack of a main dining room, reimagined entertainment options, and infinity veranda cabins that convert from standard outside staterooms into balcony cabins.
