AIDA Cruises has replaced AIDAsol with her sister ship AIDAmar for its upcoming 2022 World Cruise due to a technical fault, according to German media reports.
The itinerary, including departure date and ports of call for the 117-night cruise have reportedly not been affected.
During the four-month voyage, the vessel will visit South America, the South Pacific, Oceania, Australia, the Indian Ocean and Africa.

AIDAsol is fully operational, but currently waiting for a technical component and repairs can’t be guaranteed during the world cruise.
With the AIDAmar sailing the long-haul voyage, the AIDAsol assumes the itineraries of its fleet mate, remaining in Europe while the needed repairs are carried out onboard.
Extending through April, the ship’s winter program includes cruises to Northern Europe, in addition to a series of Canary Islands and Madeira itineraries.
AIDAmar will depart from Hamburg on October 26th this year. It will be the first time the 10-year-old ship has ever been used for a world cruise.
Highlights of the itinerary include overnight stays in major touristic destinations including Rio de Janeiro, Tahiti, Sydney and Cape Town.

She will also call in remote places, such as the Easter Island, Tonga and the Cape Verde Islands.
There is very little difference between the ships, which are of the same class and both have a capacity of 2,174 guests. The 71,000-ton ships entered service in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
In addition to similar cabins and suites, the vessels also offer the same amenities and public areas which include AIDA’s trademark Theatrium, a three-deck atrium that doubles as a showroom with a round stage, terraced decks and expansive lounging area.
Other features include the Buffalo Steakhouse, the Body and Soul Wellness Center and AIDA bar.
The World Cruise via Cape Town is an annual tradition for AIDA Cruises, and AIDAsol has already been confirmed for a repeat itinerary in 2023.
On her 2023 World Cruise, also of 117-days, AIDAsol will cross the equator twice as guests experience legendary destinations, from Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, to Tahiti and Fiji, and New Year’s Eve in Sydney with the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge as a backdrop.
