Virgin Voyages cancels cruises, reportedly due to TV show charter

Virgin Voyages has cancelled three sailings aboard Valiant Lady in April, reportedly due to a private charter for a TV show.

The cancelled sailings aboard Valiant Lady, Virgin Voyages second ship after Scarlet Lady, were meant to depart April 4th, 15th and 18th.

According to rumours on social media, the ship’s sailings have been cancelled due to a private charter in order for a TV show to be filmed onboard.

Valiant Lady is the second of four planned ships for Virgin Voyages.

Virgin Voyages has not confirmed these rumours, but has said that all affected passengers will get a 50% Future Cruise Credit on top of what was paid for the voyage if they rebook on another Virgin voyage.

If the affected guests wish to cancel the voyage altogether, they are being offered a full refund, as well as a 25% Future Cruise Credit based on the amount initially paid.

Valiant Lady is a sister ship to Scarlet Lady and is scheduled to sail her maiden voyage in Northern Europe and the Canary Islands on March 18th out of Portsmouth.

The 2,700-passenger ship has already hosted a couple of launch events in England, where it’s docked ahead of the debut.

Valiant Lady was meant to sail her first voyage in May last year, but those plans were delayed due to disruption caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Valiant Lady will sail a range of pre-summer UK cruises in 2022.

Virgin Voyages instead rolled out a series of UK and Mediterranean cruises for the ship from March, 2022.

Valiant Lady will sail these new itineraries out of the UK in 2022 before she repositions to the Mediterranean to make her debut in Barcelona.

The new UK itineraries for Valiant Lady will see her cruise from the UK to European cities and islands, including late-night and overnight stays in Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Lisbon and Belgium.

At 110,000-gross tons, she will offer several dozen dining options included in the cruise fare, a unique entertainment line-up and some of the most unusual accommodations at sea. A third sister ship, Resilient Lady, is due for delivery in July, 2022.

Before she enters service, Valiant Lady and Scarlet Lady are both due to undergo a minor refurbishment that will see their staterooms upgraded.

Virgin voyages will be introducing more wood paneling and finishing touches to enhance the sense of being at sea, channelling the art deco ocean liners of the 1940s and 50s, while more storage space will also be added.
