Princess to debut new production Spotlight Bar aboard Discovery Princess

Princess Cruises will debut a new production show aboard Discovery Princess called Spotlight Bar.

The new show, aboard the cruise line’s new ship, is intended to create a vibrant bar atmosphere in which guests will meet and connect with local storytellers.

The storytellers, drawn from the destinations in which the ship is cruising, will share tales of their lives through song.

Spotlight Bar will feature a playlist that is both nostalgic and lively. In a press release, the cruise line said it “will evoke memories and may even inspire dancing among all – bar owner, regulars and patrons alike”.

“Spotlight Bar hopes to bring people together in a place where everyone belongs,” the press release added.

The show includes a modern musical playlist, along with timeless classics, with cast performances of various songs.

Spotlight Bar sample playlist:

“Brave,” Sara Bareilles

“Don’t You Worry About a Thing,” Stevie Wonder

“Havanna,” Camila Cabela

“Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus

“Drink You Away,” Justin Timberlake

“Freedom,” George Michael

“Spotlight Bar shares the story of the friendly neighborhood bar where locals want to hang out, catch up, laugh, grab a drink and maybe sing a song or two,” said Denise Saviss, Vice President of Entertainment Experience, Princess Cruises.

“We hope Discovery Princess guests will get lost in the familiar music and theme of camaraderie to truly connect with our talented Princess entertainers,” she added.

Spotlight Bar will debut in the Princess Theater onboard Discovery Princess departing Los Angeles on April 17th, 2022, sailing to the Mexican Riviera.

The show will be performed live by the Princess singers, dancers and musicians on every Discovery Princess voyage.

Discovery Princess

The 3,660-guest Discovery Princess is the sixth and final Royal-Class newbuild and shares the style and luxury of her sister ships – Enchanted Princess, Sky Princess, Majestic Princess, Regal Princess and Royal Princess – but with a few ‘evolutions’.

The ship offers many of the line’s signature experiences, including the adults-only Sanctuary, three-deck-high Piazza atrium and Movies Under the Stars, as well as Sky Suites, which feature the line’s largest balconies.

It will also be fully equipped with OceanMedallion and boasts French bistro-style dining with a modern twist at Bistro Sur La Mer, created with Chef Emmanuel Renaut, whose Flocons de Sel restaurant has received three Michelin stars.

As part of the six-ship Royal-class order that Discovery Princess now completes, the cruise line also rolled out a new dining feature called Dine My Way, which makes it easy for guests to pre-plan and tailor their dining experiences.
