New Southern restaurant Mason Jar to debut aboard Wonder of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas will debut the first Southern restaurant and bar in the Royal Caribbean fleet when she is launched in March, 2022.

Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar will be the first of its kind on a Royal Caribbean ship, and one of more than 20 dining venues aboard the Oasis-class vessel.

The restaurant will offer a casual atmosphere with farmhouse-style decor and live country music, complete with its own porch, according to the cruise line.

The Mason Jar, Royal Caribbean’s new southern restaurant and bar, will debut on Wonder of the Seas.

Mason Jar will serve Southern staples for brunch, dinner and late into the night, such as johnny cakes topped with barbecue pulled pork, cinnamon rolls, southern fried chicken, crab beignets and more.

At the bar, guests can enjoy more than a dozen types of American whiskey, along with several southern-style cocktails, like the Mississippi Moonlight, as well as several zero-proof options.

“Every detail serves up southern charm in the new specialty restaurant, and setting the scene is farmhouse-style and rustic decor, live country music, even a cozy porch decked out with a swing for lounging and a great photo op, and a dedicated bar at the center of it all,” the cruise line wrote.

Mason Jar Menu

The menu suggests an eclectic mix of dishes, from Blackened Cajun Catfish and Chicken Pot Pie for mains, to Lobster and Crawfish Gumbo and Charred Watermelon Salad for starters. More meaty dishes will include St. Louis-style Ribs, Beef Brisket and Gran’s Fried Chicken.

These dishes will come with coleslaw, sweet potato fries, Cajun fries, mashed potato, Mac n’ cheese, or collard greens.

Other dining options aboard Wonder of the Seas:

In addition to Mason Jar, Royal Caribbean has also announced other dining venues that will be available aboard Wonder of the Seas.

Guests will have a choice from Italian classics like Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar to American sports bar favorites such as Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, and New England-inspired dishes at Hooked Seafood.

The Vue

The Vue will be a new cantilevered bar offering panoramic ocean views by day and a colorful mosaic canopy overhead by night.

El Loco Fresh and Cantina Fresca will be the grab-and-go spot for Mexican cuisine, like made-to-order tacos, burritos and quesadillas. Cantina Fresco will be a dedicated bar serving a selection of “aguas frescas,” margaritas and other Mexican staples.

The Lime & Coconut pool deck experience will return with its Caribbean vibes, multiple poolside bars and live music.

Other Wonder of the Seas options include Wonderland, Asian-inspired flavors at Izumi, American steakhouse Chops Grille, American seasonal dishes at 150 Central Park, Johnny Rockets, Starbucks, Sugar Beach and more.
