Groundbreaking Celebrity Edge to cruise Dubai to Singapore in 2023

Celebrity Cruises has announced that Celebrity Edge will cruise from Dubai in 2023 on her repositioning voyage from Europe to Australia.

Celebrity Edge will be undertaking a 52-night Grand voyage from Rome to Sydney, but will also offer shorter legs, such as a 13-night Dubai to Singapore voyage.

The news comes after Celebrity Cruises announced in October that Celebrity Edge will homeport in Australia throughout December, 2023 and into April, 2024, with the first cruise a 10-night voyage to New Zealand departing Sydney on December 9th, 2023.

“This Grand Voyage is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reconnect with the world, experience new cultures, explore diverse and exotic landscapes, and experience something new and exciting every day,” said Tim Jones, Vice President and Managing Director for Celebrity Cruises Australia, New Zealand and APAC.

“This is your chance to tick the places you’ve been dreaming about off your Bucket List in one exceptional holiday, with the added luxury of your favourite amenities Always Included,” he added.

Celebrity Edge will depart Rome, Italy, on October 30th, 2023, arriving in Sydney, Australia on December 21st, 2023. In-between, she’ll visit 11 countries, and 25 ports, sailing 10,000 nautical miles to debut in the Southern Hemisphere for the first time.

This will also be the first time the Edge-class has cruised from the Middle East, and on the 14-night Rome to Dubai leg of the voyage, passengers will get to transit the Suez Canal and ride the camels in Wadi Rum in Aqaba and explore the iconic stone city of Petra.

On her 12-night Dubai to Singapore voyage they’ll visit Mubai (Bombay), the Gateway of India, as well as the ancient cave temples nearby Elephanta Island, experience the many cultures that have converged in the port of Cochin, overnight stay in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and experience cosmopolitan Singapore.

Mumbai is known as the Gateway to India and will feature on Celebrity Edge’s Dubai to Singapore cruise.

These two cruises (Rome to Dubai and Dubai to Singapore) are two of four separate legs of the Grand Voyage, which are each individually bookable. The others include a 14-night Singapore to Sydney cruise, and a 12-night roundtrip cruise to New Zealand from Sydney.

The Dubai to Singapore voyage is the one we’re most excited about. It departs Dubai on November 13th, 2023. Ports of call include Mumbai, India; Cochin, India; Colombo, SriLanka (over night stay); Phuket, Thailand; and Singapore.

What’s as enticing as the itinerary itself is the ship. Celebrity Edge eschews many of the traditional elements of a cruise ship in a groundbreaking platform that has been warmly received by passengers.

She features 11 restaurants and 12 cafes and bars, as well as a theatre, casino, several lounges, kids club and sprawling rooftop garden.

She also has cabins that convert into balcony staterooms thanks to folding floor-to-ceiling windows, and of course the famous Magic Carpet floating restaurant affixed to the starboard side of the ship.
