Norwegian Prima will be the first of six cruise ships of the same class ordered by Norwegian Cruise Line.

According to Harry Sommer, President & CEO, Norwegian Cruise Line, she represents an evolution of the Norwegian Cruise Line brand, enhancing various signature elements of the NCL cruise experience.

“[Norwegian Prima is] an exemplary representation of our brand evolution, bringing together our ‘Guest First’ philosophy and our spirit of innovation,” said Sommer. “Norwegian Prima personifies everything our guests love about NCL and raises the bar. This brand-new class of ships is truly designed to put our guests first.”

At 142,500 gross tons and able to accommodate 3,215 guests at double occupancy, she will be smaller than the Breakaway Plus class, the line’s most recent ships, but will offer the largest The Haven concept in the fleet.

“Despite not having sailed in more than a year, we never stopped working and innovating, we never once pressed pause,” says Sommer. “In fact, we doubled down on our brand investment in order to deliver unforgettable guest experiences that go well beyond expectations.”

That includes more dining options as well, including the Indulge Food Hall on the Ocean Boulevard, which features 11 venues of its own, in addition to those found elsewhere on the ship.

Other firsts for the line aboard Norwegian Prima

The extent of the innovations and enhancements aboard Norwegian Prima are characteristic of the way cruise lines have been elevating the cruise experience for decades, but especially during the last few years.

It’s become a cliche to say a new cruise ship is ground-breaking or a game-changer, but Norwegian Prima really does feel like a new product concept for Norwegian Cruise Line.
