Norwegian Cruise Line will cruise twice from South Africa with two different cruise ships for the first time in 2021, with Norwegian Jade joining Norwegian Dawn in cruising from Cape Town.
The cruise line had already announced that Norwegian Spirit would be cruising from Cape Town in 2020, along with Norwegian Dawn in 2021. Now it has added a second 2021 Cape Town cruise for Norwegian Jade.

The new cruise is part of the cruise line’s “Extraordinary Journeys”, what it calls a curated portfolio of port-intensive itineraries designed to offer more immersive and meaningful experiences around the world.
The 2021 itineraries on Norwegian Jade, Pearl, Sky, Star and Sun are now open for sale, while the company also announced a number of other deployment moves for 2021.
The “Extraordinary Journeys” cruises feature a collection of longer, one-of-a-kind port-rich voyages, that inspire a sense of discovery and broader connection with places around the world, the company said, in a statement.
“The new Extraordinary Journeys itineraries are meant to stir a sense of wonder and encourage meaningful travel, whether you’re looking to disconnect or reconnect with the people and world around you,” said Harry Sommer, President & CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“Travel broadens our horizons and allows us to reset. With cruises from 11 to 22 days sailing and calling to nearly every continent, we are inspiring our guests to discover their own extraordinary journey with us,” he added.
Norwegian Jade will cruise from Cape Town on December 21st, but the exact itinerary hasn’t been released yet. What we do know is that she’ll depart Dubai bound for Cape Town on December 3rd, 2021.
The 18-night cruise will visit Muscat, Oman; La Digue and Port Victoria Seychelles; Nosy Be, Madagascar; Port Louis, Mauritius; Pointe Des Galets, Reunion; Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay, Richard’s Bay overnight, before arriving to Cape Town, South Africa.
After Cape Town, she’ll either cruise the west coast of Africa on a repositioning cruise to Europe, or might do the same itinerary in reverse back to Dubai, just like Norwegian Dawn is due to do earlier in 2021.

At 93,000-gross tons and carrying a maximum of 2,800 passengers, Norwegian Jade is the largest of the three Norwegian Cruise Line ships cruising from South Africa in 2020 and 2021, but is still mid-size by modern cruise industry standards.

On-board, passengers will find 10 dining options, 15 bars and cafes, three pools, a spa and gym, casino, Broadway-style theatre and facilities for young children to teens. The 2006-built ship was thoroughly refurbished in 2017.
She spent three weeks in dry dock during which every part of the ship was enhanced, including the addition of two brand new restaurants and two new bars and lounges, updated design and décor in many public spaces, and a refurbishment of all staterooms.
