Holland America’s Noordam gets Pinnacle-class upgrades in major refit and refurbishment

Holland America Line’s 85,000-gross ton, 1,924-passenger Noordam has emerged from a major refit and refurbishment that has seen new venues added, suites refreshed and several dining areas rebuilt in order to bring her up-to-date with the line’s new Pinnacle class ships.

“Noordam looks better than ever with sleek upgrades, fresh décor and the addition of new spaces like the popular Billboard Onboard, which receives rave reviews from guests,” said Orlando Ashford, President, Holland America Line.

“We are always investing in our ships and onboard amenities and offerings to ensure that guests enjoy the latest and greatest experiences, particularly in the area of authentic music, as we are known for having the best live music at sea,” he added.

The most notable new additions are Billboard Onboard to the Music Walk area, Microsoft Studio in the Explorations Café and Fujifilm Wonder Photo Shop where guests can create mementos from their photos.

In addition, suites were refreshed with new soft goods, furniture and bathrooms, the same upgrades that are rolling out on the line’s Signature- and Vista-class ships, while all staterooms, suites and normal cabins alike, got a new interactive television system featuring large, LED flat-screen TVs with complimentary movies and TV shows on demand.

Other areas receiving extensive enhancements were Pinnacle Grill, Pinnacle Bar, The Greenhouse Spa & Salon, the Dining Room and Lido Market.  A pickleball court was also added to the sports court area.

The work was undertaken during two weeks at Victoria Shipyards in Victoria, British Columbia ahead of the ship’s Australian season, sailing 12 to 15-night itineraries out of Sydney and Auckland.

Next summer, she will head to Alaska, sailing 7-day Glacier Discovery cruises northbound from Vancouver B.C. and southbound from Seward (Anchorage).

An in-depth Land + Sea journey can be added to Noordam sailings for those guests who want to explore the interior of The Great Land, including the must-see Denali National Park.

Noordam is one of Holland America’s Vista-class ships. Launched in 2006, she is a sister ship of Oosterdam, Westerdam, Zuiderdam and P&O Cruises’ Arcadia (both Holland America Line and P&O are owned by Carnival Corporation).
