The new Mangrove Boardwalk will open by January, 2020, in the middle of the current UAE cruise season, offering visitors to the UAE capital a new experience of the beautiful Abu Dhabi Mangroves.
The walk will wind its way through the mangroves near Yas Island and will include a play area for children and terraces on which visitors can admire the stunning natural landscape.
Mangrove Walk will feature a boardwalk with interactive educational lessons, a play area for children, a visitor centre, and activities including kayaking to raise awareness about mangroves. Viewing terraces will enable visitors to connect with nature.

The project aims to convey the importance of Mangrove trees and how they are essential for the environment, while also expanding the breadth of tourist attractions now available in the capital.
While Abu Dhabi is a popular cruise port in the region for the Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the up-coming Guggenheim Museum, it has been sorely lacking in opportunities to escape into nature.

This was highlighted by a spokesperson for Pullmantur Cruises at the recent Seatrade Cruise Middle East Forum. Pullmantur is homeporting annually in Dubai, offering roundtrip cruises in the Arabian Gulf alongside eight other cruise lines for the current season.
While the mangroves have always been a well-known aspect of Abu Dhabi’s environment, opportunities to visit them have been limited to yacht cruises and resort stays, this will make the wetlands far more accessible. Cruise tourists in Abu Dhabi can also explore the Abu Dhabi Mangroves aboard their own speedboat with Rhino Rides.
The mangroves are located in the Eastern Mangrove Lagoon National Park, which receives almost universal praise from visitors on popular review site Trip Advisor.
