“There is only one way to cross the Atlantic in style and that’s on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2,” said Simon Palethorpe, President, Cunard Line. “We’re delighted to be hosting Steven Soderbergh, Meryl Streep and a star studded cast on our flagship for what will be an incredible movie.”

‘Let Them All Talk’ (a working title, thankfully) will be filmed on-board the ship, and while the release date is as-yet unknown, HBO Max has acquired rights to the film.

In addition to Streep, it also stars Candice Bergen, Gemma Chan, Lucas Hedges and Dianne Wiest. Gregory Jacobs is the producer, with Ken Meyer and Joseph Malloch as executive producers.

Cunard Line is no stranger to movie scenes and sets, and has long courted the stars of screen and stage Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth, Wes Anderson and Tilda Swinton have all sailed with the line, and its ships have appeared as setting for movies for decades.

The former ocean liner QE2, now a hotel in Dubai, was a major plot point of the 1998 movie ‘The Parent Trap’ starring Lindsay Lohan, although principle photography for the ship scenes were actually filmed aboard RMS Queen Mary, also now a hotel ship, but in Long Beach, California.

Queen Mary was also used as the setting for some of the scenes in the television series ‘The Last Ship’, and was the location for much of the filming for the horror movie ‘Ghost Ship’.

Scenes from ‘The Aviator’, starring Leonardo di Caprio were also filmed aboard the ship, along with the WWII movie ‘Pearl Harbour’, and more than 100 other films.

Cunard’s current flagship Queen Mary 2 has carried on the tradition, with a major movie premiere with the star-studded event for 20th Century Fox’s ‘The Greatest Showman’ starring Hugh Jackman held on-board in December, 2017.

Sting has also performed a set in Queen Mary 2’s Royal Court Theatre, Ed Sheeran wrote part of his last album on a crossing and American film director Francis Ford Coppola sailed recently to work on a book, according to the line.
