ABBA Reunion concert to be held aboard QE2 Dubai

Continuing its quest to showcase all that was great about the decades during which QE2 was in service as the most famous ocean liner in the world, QE2 Dubai has announced that ABBA Reunion will be performing a concert aboard the ship in June.

Created by the team behind the award-winning West End musical Abbamania and featuring some of the cast from the London show, ABBA Reunion aims to recreate the feel-good songs and on-stage chemistry that made the band so popular.

The performances will be held back-to-back over two nights, on Wednesday June 26 and Thursday June 27, with ticket prices starting from AED180 per person.

Guests attending the event, which takes place on the world’s most iconic cruise ship, will be able to see the band perform all of ABBA’s biggest hits – including Waterloo, Dancing Queen and Take a Chance on Me.

The combination of big hits, authentic outfits and trademark choreography will have you thinking you’ve been transported back to the 1970s, the heyday of trans-Atlantic service for QE2, which was launched in 1969.

Events such as these are part of PCFC Hotels’ effort to recreate the 70s, 80s and 90s aboard the ocean-liner-turned-floating hotel.

The most luxurious dining room aboard the ship, the Queen’s Grill, for example, serves an authentic 1969 menu from the ship’s maiden voyage, while all her interiors have been restored or preserved to reflect her days as a Cunard liner.

“We don’t want the ship to feel brand new, we want it to feel well-maintained and restored, but we want it to also look and feel like an ocean liner that crossed the Atlantic more than 800 times,” explains Hamza Mustafa, CEO of PCFC Hotels.

“And we’ll be hosting events and parties aimed at celebrating that heritage,” he adds.

Tickets are available from AED180 at dubai.platinumlist.net.
