Dubai-bound Island Princess and five others to get the MedallionClass

Princess Cruises has announced the expansion of its MedallionClass to six more cruise ships by the end of 2020, including Dubai-bound Island Princess.

Ruby Princess will get the new wearable tech first, by January 27^th, Grand Princess will be next by March 29^th, its new ship Enchanted Princess by June 15^th, Emerald Princess by August 16^th, Coral Princess by October 16^th, and Island Princess by December 20^th.

The addition of the MedallionClass aboard Island Princess will come just a few months before her 2021 Dubai cruise departure on March 15^th, when she will set off on a 55-night cruise to Los Angeles (which can also be booked as a 41-night ending in Fort Lauderdale).

MedallionClass Vacations are currently available on Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess (cruising from Dubai in 2020) and Royal Princess.

Princess Cruises previously announced that Crown Princess would receive the new system by July 24^th and Sky Princess by October 12^th, 2019 when the newest ship in the Princess fleet departs her shipyard.

Sky Princess will be the first of the line’s ships to be built from the ground up with the Ocean Guest Experience Platform.

By the end of 2020, guests sailing in the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Mexico, California Coast and on the World Cruise will have the elevated guest experience powered by the OceanMedallion.

“We are thrilled with the response and are working to extend Princess MedallionClass to more guests around the world,” she added. “Princess Cruises is passionately committed to giving all our guests the opportunity for a more personalized and simplified vacation experience.”

The OceanMedallion is a small coin the size of a watch face that can be worn on the wrist and interacts with the ship’s onboard systems to allow guests to personalize food orders, track family members, book shows and dining, open staterooms doors without a cruise card and make on-board purchases among other features.

The Ocean Medallion is fully-automated and has no visible technology such as an on-off switch or charging function and gives passengers a streamlined ship embarkation and disembarkation process, as well as quicker and easier entry and exit at ports of call.
