Seabourn Cruise Line has released details of Sojourn’s 2020 World Cruise, a 146-night voyage from Miami to San Francisco that will once more make use of Cape Town as a key turnaround port for the African and Indian Ocean legs of the voyage.
Seabourn Sojourn will depart from Miami on January 4th, 2020, bound for San Francisco, via 62 ports in 36 countries over the course of 146 nights. Sixteen of those nights will be spent overnight in port, with Cape Town being one of the overnight cruise destinations.
Seabourn Sojourn will stay overnight in Cape Town at the cruise terminal next to the V&A Waterfront.

Three of those segments feature Cape Town as a departure port. Seabourn Sojourn will cruise from the Mother City on February 12th, 2020, offering either a 77-night world cruise segment ending in Sydney, Australia, a 107-night voyage ending in San Francisco or a 39-night cruise from Cape Town to Singapore.
Seabourn Sojourn is Seabourn’s regular World Cruiser.
On all of these Cape Town cruise departures Seabourn Sojourn will visit Durban and Richard’s Bay, before cruising up the eastern coast of Africa to Ilha de Mozambique, a tiny former Portuguese stronghold off the coast of the country of the same name, Nosy Be in Madagascar, and the island of Zanzibar off Tanzania.
Seabourn Sojourn will also cruise to Mombasa off the Kenyan mainland on her 2020 World Cruise, and will stay for two whole nights in port. The three day port call is intended to allow passengers to explore Mombasa’s colourful markets, the 16th-century Portuguese Fort Jesus and take safaris to several of Kenya’s famous game parks on overland excursions.

The fort on the island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and optional shore excursions in more than 20 ports involve UNESCO World Heritage Sites, thanks to Seabourn’s UNESCO partnership.
Other key port calls on the World Cruise include a sailing up the Saigon River right into the heart of Ho Chi Minh City (overnight), Vietnam’s former French colonial capital, and a transit over the Great Barrier Reef to Cairns, Queensland (overnight).
The world cruise will also feature several optional, mid-voyage overland excursions where travellers disembark at one port and re-join the ship at another. These excursions include the safari parks and game reserves in Kenya and South Africa, India’s Taj Mahal and UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Cambodia and Australia.
Seabourn Journeys offer an immersive longer pre- and post-cruise land-based excursion to and from select destinations such as Cape Town, Singapore and Sydney. In Cape Town, these pre- and post-cruise extras include a journey through the Garden Route aboard the resplendent Pride of Africa of Rovos Rail.
The full 146-night World Cruise aboard Seabourn Sojourn from Miami to San Fransico starts at US $66,999. But, for the South African cruising public there are ‘cheaper’ options if you board the ship in Cape Town.
Prices for the 107-night Cape Town to San Francisco leg start at US $49,499, while the shorter 39-night cruise from Cape Town to Singapore will set you back US $17,499. The 77-night voyage ending in Sydney, Australia starts at US $35,999.
