Katherine Jenkins to perform special concert aboard Queen Mary 2’s Dubai cruise in 2019

The Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins has been hired by Imagine Cruising, which has its Middle East office in Dubai, to perform a special concert aboard Queen Mary 2 for her April 18th cruise from Dubai in 2019.

The concert comes after the cruise specialists last year held a gala dinner last month with a performance by the glamorous Welsh mezzo-soprano for just 500 guests whose cruises were going to start, or had ended, in Dubai.

That event proved so popular that Imagine Cruising decided to go all-out for an at sea concert aboard the world’s greatest ocean liner during her Dubai cruise departure. Queen Mary 2 will spend the night of April 18th in port at the Dubai Cruise Terminal on the night of concert.

“Our customers are looking for more than just a cruise,” explains Imagine Cruising director Peter Shanks. “They are keen to immerse themselves in a destination at the start or finish of their cruise, and adding iconic events creates such a memorable experience.”

Imagine Cruising has put together a 23-night trip starting on April 18 from £2,199pp. The price includes a flight to Dubai, a two-night hotel stay for the concert, and a 21-night cruise back to Southampton aboard Queen Mary 2.

Queen Mary 2 will be cruising from Dubai in April next year for the second consecutive year. The Cunard ocean liner used Dubai as a turnaround port in May this year, cruising from Dubai following a full bow-to-stern ‘remastering’.

The result is a ship that feels modern and new, while still immersed in the rich history of the cruise line that owns her. QM2 Remastered project manager Alison Clixby has succeeded in evoking the pedigree of the Cunard brand, with many design features reminiscent of the original RMS Queen Mary and more art-deco RMS Queen Elizabeth of the 1940s.

The stylishly elegant Queen’s Grill with its claret-red art-deco tub chairs (lots more tables for two); in the fabulously retro “starburst” carpeting, in the whimsical art in the new Verandah restaurant and in the re-upholstered cabins where geometric graphics are paired with gold and navy bedspreads, rounded sofas and chaise longue seating.

While the April 18th cruise aboard Queen Mary 2 is a westward bound itinerary, into the Mediterranean with European ports as its highlight, Queen Mary 2 will be back in Dubai again in 2019, but this time departing on January 29th, for a 21-night cruise to Hong Kong.
