South Africa’s favourite cruise ship MSC Sinfonia shares Cape Town harbour with Cunard Queen

MSC Cruises and Cunard Line shared Cape Town harbour last week, with Queen Elizabeth and MSC Sinfonia in port simultaneously on April 20th.

With the sun setting on MSC Sinfonia’s time as South Africa’s most popular cruise ship, the joint port call was a great opportunity for cruise ship enthusiasts to glimpse the two liners together.

MSC Sinfonia departed April 20th from Cape Town on a 4-day cruise to Walvis Bay, Namibia, while Queen Elizabeth cruised from Cape Town on the same day bound for Southampton.

Her southbound cruise is also notable for offering the longest stretch of days at sea of any South African cruise itinerary this year.

Incidentally, both ships met again on April 22nd in port in Walvis Bay.

Queen Elizabeth will visit Cape Town again in the 2018 cruise season, but will not offer Cape Town as an embarkation port until January 2019 when she sails from Cape Town to Australia.

MSC Sinfonia will leave South African waters in May when she repositions to Europe, but will return next year for another cruise season out of Durban and Cape Town before being replaced by the larger MSC Musica.
