Silversea Cruises newly renovated cruise ship Silver Whisper has paid a visit to Dubai, cruising from the city for Greece to begin a series of European cruise itineraries in April.
Silver Whisper performed a turnaround, using Dubai as an embarkation port for a 15-night cruise from the Middle East to Greece via the Suez Canal.
Silver Whisper departed Dubai April 12th after spending the night in port and arrived in Greece last Thursday.
Silver Whisper, along with her fleetmates Silver Wind and Silver Discoverer was fully renovated during late 2016 and early 2017 in a US $170-million fleet revitalisation project by Silversea.
Silver Whisper isn’t Silversea’s newest ship, but she is one of the line’s most well-loved and as such during her refit Silversea opted to keep what worked and revamped rather than renovated her.
The cruise line has kept the warm look and feel of Silver Whisper and modified it with modest changes. With this latest “refresher” of the Silver Whisper’s décor, the areas of focus have been on taking the ship’s best features and accentuating them.

Aboard the ship one of the only immediately noticeable enhancements is the removal of the synthetic green Astroturf decking, which has been replaced with new, ocean-blue decking.
New carpets have been laid in all suites and the flooring in the ship’s Restaurant, La Terrazza, the Panorama Lounge, Connoisseur’s Corner, and the Spa at Silversea has been replaced.
La Terrazza and The Restaurant all benefitted from newly-upholstered chairs, done in a new soft rose-coloured fabric that lightens up the room.
The only public room that has been significantly changed is the Observation Lounge, which sports new wood display cases, wall panelling, and a brand-new bar topped with classy marble.
Silver Whisper will visit the Middle East again next year, but interestingly during her 2018 re-positioning cruise from Asia to Europe, Silversea have elected to use Muscat as a turnaround port and not Dubai.
In fact, Silver Whisper wont visit Dubai at all. Her 15-night cruise from Singapore to Muscat (departing Singapore April 4th, 2018) will arrive in Muscat on April 19th and depart the same day with a new load of passengers.
Her Muscat to Greece cruise on April 19th is a 19-night voyage that includes 5-nights at sea between the port call at Salalah and Safaga in Egypt.
Silversea Cruises haven’t forsaken Dubai altogether though, during the 2018 Middle East cruise season the newer and larger Silver Spirit will call in Dubai, using the port as a turnaround on her own 18-night Dubai to Rome itinerary departing February 22nd.
