Horrifying elevator death caught on camera aboard Carnival Ecstasy – graphic content warning

Passengers on their way to dinner aboard the cruise ship Carnival Ecstasy witnessed a horrifying scene Sunday when a technician was crushed by one of the ship’s elevators.

Matt Davis and his wife filmed blood pouring over the glass elevator doors for the deck on which they were standing. According to CNN, Davis said the blood was dripping over the doors “like a curtain”.

As the couple looked on aghast at the flowing blood, which they said sounded like a rainstorm, a crew member was trying to usher people back inside the restaurant.

Carnival Cruises has since released a statement confirming that an electrician was killed while performing maintenance. An investigation has been launched into how the accident occurred.

“Appropriate authorities have been notified and a full investigation into the cause of the accident is underway,” a spokesperson said. The ship was on the final leg of a 3-day cruise from Miami when the incident occurred.
