MSC Cruises has outlined new details of the outdoor and pool facilities planned for MSC World Asia, including an updated version of The Harbour concept and a redesigned Aqua Deck.
The vessel, due to enter service in December 2026, is the third in the line’s World Class series, and will introduce a revised layout for The Harbour, an open-air family space first introduced on MSC World America.
On MSC World Asia, the concept will be adapted with design elements reflecting Asian cultural and visual themes, forming part of a broader approach that incorporates regional influences into the ship’s public spaces.
The Harbour will be positioned within the Family Aventura district and is intended to operate as a full-day outdoor venue combining activities, dining, and seating areas.
The space will include a mix of attractions designed to accommodate different age groups and activity levels, alongside casual food and beverage options.
Among the headline features is Cliffhanger, an over-water swing ride positioned approximately 164 feet above sea level, alongside a two-level ropes course incorporating sky rail elements.
A water-based play area will also form part of the space, with a combination of slides and splash features intended to cater to both younger and older guests.
A new Play Deck will be introduced as part of the Harbour layout, designed as a more relaxed outdoor area encouraging shared use by families. The ship will also feature an extended version of the spiral dry slide, branded as the Tree of Life, which will connect upper decks with the World Promenade below.
In addition to the Harbour, MSC Cruises has confirmed further details of the Aqua Deck district, which will include a combination of indoor and outdoor pool areas designed for use throughout the day and into the evening.
The ship will feature a total of seven pools and 13 hot tubs, with two newly designed pools forming the centrepiece of the Aqua Deck.
The outdoor Manila Bay pool area will be configured to support a range of daytime activities, with additional shaded areas, seating, and adjacent bar facilities.
The indoor Coral Cove pool will feature a retractable glass roof, allowing for year-round use, and will incorporate design elements inspired by marine environments, including a large-scale installation by Elisabetta Milan.
The Aqua Deck is intended to accommodate a range of uses, from quieter morning activities through to higher-energy programming later in the day, reflecting a broader trend among cruise operators to segment outdoor spaces by time of use as well as by guest demographic.
MSC World Asia is scheduled to begin operations on December 4th, 2026, sailing seven-night itineraries in the Mediterranean.
Ports of call are set to include Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples, and Valletta. The ship will also mark the first time that The Harbour concept is introduced on a vessel operating in Europe.
The introduction of revised outdoor concepts and expanded pool facilities reflects an ongoing focus within the cruise sector on increasing the range and flexibility of open-air spaces, particularly on larger ships designed to operate across multiple regions and seasons.
As part of the World Class series, MSC World Asia continues the line’s approach of incorporating regionally influenced design themes while maintaining a consistent onboard layout across sister vessels.
