MSC Cruises to expand World Class fleet to six vessels with order for two new ships

MSC Cruises has confirmed a new order with French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique for two additional World Class ships, extending the series to six vessels. 

The newly announced ships—referred to as World Class 5 and World Class 6—are scheduled for delivery in 2029 and 2030.

While details of the new World Class vessels have not yet been released, they are expected to build on the same platform as MSC World Europa and MSC World America, which entered service in October 2022 and April 2025.

Spanning 22 decks and featuring over 40,000 square metres of public space, MSC World Europa and America represent the blueprint for future World Class ships, combining large-scale capacity with LNG propulsion and advanced environmental systems.

The two new ships will join a growing fleet of sister vessels that includes MSC World Europa and MSC World America, as well as MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic, currently under construction and scheduled to enter service in 2026 and 2027 respectively. 

MSC World Atlantic will homeport in Port Canaveral, expanding MSC’s US footprint alongside World America’s year-round itineraries from PortMiami.

Designed with seven distinct districts, the ships offer a wide range of experiences tailored to different guest profiles, with more than 13 dining experiences, and 20 bars and lounges, as well as new concepts that debuted aboard each ship at the time of their launch. 

MSC World Europa debuted 7 brand new bar and café concepts including the line’s first onboard microbrewery, a new gin bar, a new cool and edgy cocktail bar honouring the art of mixology and more, along with Venom Drop the world’s longest dry slide at sea.

MSC World America similarly debuted new concepts, such as MSC’s evolving family offering with The Harbour—an outdoor park featuring a high ropes course and swing ride—and the largest Doremiland kids’ area in the fleet.

Entertainment venues on board MSC World America include the World Theatre, Luna Park Arena and a first-for-the-line Comedy Club, while new dining concepts introduced on MSC World America included the Sports Bar, The Gin Project, and an 11-deck dry slide.

These will likely inform the onboard design of World Class 5 and 6, consolidating the cruise line’s future around a proven, flexible ship platform designed to serve diverse global markets with a consistent mix of scale, innovation, and guest-focused design.
