Entertainment concepts revealed for TUI’s largest new cruise ship Mein Schiff 8

TUI Cruises has revealed some of the entertainment concepts that will debut aboard its upcoming cruise ship Mein Schiff 8, including a burlesque-style show lounge, hexagonal theater, and an intimate lecture theatre with adjoining bar.

TUI Cruises new ship is set to launch in 2024 and will be the largest in the fleet to date at 161,000 gross tons. The name has not been officially revealed, but it is being built under the assumption that it will be called Mein Schiff 8.

TUI Cruises follows the same naming convention for all its cruise ships, with the 2014-built Mein Schiff 3 currently the oldest vessel in the fleet, while Mein Schiff 1 was introduced in 2018, replacing the original 1996-built Mein Schiff 1, which was retired the same year.

Mein Schiff 8

The new cruise ship due in 2024 might also replace Mein Schiff 3, but it’s unlikely that TUI will retire such a relatively modern ship from its fleet.

Mein Schiff 8 is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. In addition to the newly announced three entertainment concepts, TUI has previously revealed that the vessel will have the largest pool area in the fleet.

The ship’s top deck will feature a 25-metre pool, partially covered by a floating rooftop, under which several alfresco cafes and bars will be available to guests.

Casino Burlesque

The Casino Burlesque

Casino Burlesque is an exclusive new theater concept onboard the ship, decorated in the style of the Roaring 20s and offering burlesque performances, pole dancing and live music.

Guests will also have a chance to attend burlesque workshops in pole dancing during the voyage.

Hexagonal Theater

The hexagonal theater will feature a multifunctional stage, where guests can watch a range of performancesand sports tournaments.

Small Theater

The small theater provides a more intimate space for art and culture. On a fully equipped stage, guests can enjoy plays, readings, lectures, and radio plays. The theater will be connected to a bar with a lounge where guests can sip on included drinks.

Pool area aboard Mein Schiff 8

Mein Schiff 8 is being built with future sustainability in mind and has been designed to use low-emission biofuel, and will be fitted with improved catalytic converters, and a shore power connection to prevent emissions in port.

She is the first of two identical cruise ships for the Mein Schiff fleet, with Mein Schiff 9 due in 2026. Both ships are 161,000 gross tons, and promise guests a wider variety of dining, accommodation, relaxation and entertainment options.
