Oceania Cruises to name new ship Allura, sister ship to Vista

Oceania Cruises has revealed the name of its new cruise ship as Allura, the second in the eponymously named new class of vessels.

Allura will be the second Allura-class ship following the Vista, which is set to sail this May, while Allura is due for delivery in 2025.

Both ships are currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.

“At Oceania Cruises, we are always looking for ways to evolve, elevate and modernise our offerings to continuously surprise and delight our discerning guests as they enjoy immersive new experiences,” said Frank A. Del Rio, President, Oceania Cruises.

“We are thrilled with the incredible demand we have witnessed for Allura’s sister ship, Vista, with her 2023 maiden season already sold out, and we know Allura will be equally as popular with our guests,” he added.

While few details have been released about this second ship in the new Allura class, Del Rio said that she will feature a few differences compared to her sister ship.

“The arrival of any new ship is the ideal time to look closely at what we offer travelers,” he said. “As we prepare to welcome Allura to the family, we have already started planning exciting new elements to be added across the fleet.”

Details of Allura’s inaugural season, which will feature a Europe and the Americas, will be revealed this spring before going on sale in the summer, according to a press release.

“Allura’s inaugural journeys are designed to appeal to all global travelers, whether they revel in the joy that comes with reconnecting with favorite destinations or are excited to discover new places and sights for the very first time,” said Del Rio.

The Allura class are designed to be among the most luxurious yet comfortable and cosy ships afloat at 67,000-gross tons and carrying 1,200 guests. Allura will be the eighth ship in the fleet and is expected to sail in the Eastern Mediterranean and Americas during her inaugural 2025 season.

Images on the cruise line’s website feature the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, suggesting the city may be used as a port call or perhaps even a homeport during her maiden cruise season.
