Luxury hotel group to build and operate Saudi-based cruise yacht

The luxury hotel resort chain Aman Resorts has announced plans to develop a cruise yacht in a joint venture with Cruise Saudi.

The partnership, called Project Sama, will see the development of a 183-metre yacht-like cruise ship with 50 suites.

The name of the project means tranquillity in Sanskrit and intends to bring guests the same level of privacy, peace and discreet service for which Aman Resorts are known.

Each suite will feature a private balcony and there will be a wide array of dining options, from the casual club and lounge to a more formal all-day restaurant.

One of Aman’s famous spas will also be onboard, with its own Japanese garden to promote a sense of calm and well-being.

The ship will feature two helipads and a beach club, where guests can directly access the sea at the stern of the ship.

“Project Sama will provide transformative experiences within the revered Aman setting and service, which is unlike any other yacht experience, ultimately creating a whole new category in on the water discovery,” he added.

Cruise Saudi is partly funding the project as part of its ongoing efforts to position the country as a cruise destination, with the yacht intended to be targeted at international cruise tourists.

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and Aman Resorts will collaborate on the design to ensure the vessel echoes the company’s eastern heritage and design philosophy.

The cruising superyacht is scheduled for a 2025 launch, with the name of the vessel yet to be announced.
