New AIDAnova mega-ship sails from Hamburg for first time

AIDAnova arrived in the port of Hamburg for the first time on Monday, and the final preparations have been made for the welcome of the first guests and the start of the first cruise on Tuesday.

 AIDAnova on December 14th will become the 10th AIDA cruise ship to resume cruises since the pandemic, sailing roundtrip out of Hamburg.

AIDAnova has been transformed into a winter wonderland for her coming winter cruise season: Oversized Christmas light installations and festively decorated fir trees adorn her public areas and Christmas-themed events will be held during each cruise.

The first of two Advent cruises from Hamburg departed December 14th, visiting Kristiansand and Oslo, while the cruise departing December 19th will call only call at Kristiansand.

On both voyages, AIDA gourmet godmother and TV chef Andrea Schirmaier-Huber will be on board, giving guests the opportunity to create tasty biscuits and Christmas chocolates together.

The AIDA Show Ensemble will feature on board AIDAnova in the Theatrium, with popular productions, such as “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, also returning to the stage.

A new interactive production called the “Upgrade Show” will debut aboard AIDAnova, where guests from two inside cabins each play with packed suitcases for an upgrade to a veranda cabin during the cruise.

A full festive program will be offered on AIDAnova’s Christmas voyage from December 22nd, to January 8th, from Hamburg to Gran Canaria. Guests will experience New Year in Funchal/Madeira with one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in the world.

From January to April 2022, AIDAnova will sail from Hamburg to the Spanish islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

AIDAnova offers 17 restaurants and 23 bars, a double water slide and climbing garden, the Beach Club, the Theatrium with a 360° stage, a TV studio and a huge Body & Soul Organic Spa.

The extended AIDA health and safety program provides cruises with an adjusted passenger capacity in addition to regulations requiring vaccination and additional COVID-19 tests before arrival.

AIDA Cruises has also rolled out comprehensive preventive measures such as regular health checks on board and extensive AHA rules. Care is provided around the clock in the Medical Centres, which are equipped with the latest COVID-19 testing devices, among other equipment.
