MSC Cruises has officially commissioned its new cruise ship MSC Seashore with a naming ceremony at its new private island destination Ocean Cay.
MSC Seashore was named by Sophia Loren, who has named all 15 of MSC Cruises’ newbuild cruise ships since 2006.
MSC Seashore will now begin her winter cruise season in the Caribbean.

The naming ceremony at the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve also marked the island’s official inauguration, even though it has been receiving guests for several months, while MSC Seashore entered service in August in the Mediterranean.
The naming ceremony at Ocean Cay, the first for a cruise ship at a private island, saw celebrations held both aboard the new ship and on the island.
The night was capped off by a gala dinner and live entertainment from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and three-time Grammy Award-winner Nile Rodgers and his band Chic.

MSC Seashore, the first of MSC Cruises’ Seaside EVO-class cruise ships, will be deployed out of PortMiami this coming season.
She will begin her inaugural 7-night cruise and U.S. season on November 20th.
While MSC Seashore is externally very similar to other Seaside-class cruise ships, she has been extensively redesigned. According to MSC Cruises, 65% of her public areas have been reimagined.
A glass-floored Bridge of Sighs has been added to the aft area on Deck 16 above the infinity pool on Deck 8. The ship will also feature an outdoor aft dining area and bar, the Sky Bar, while the Chef’s Court dining area has been moved to Deck 8 and features an improved sea view.

A reconfigured stern area has allowed for the introduction of a new two-deck lounge, Cabaret Rouge, with panoramic views of the sea.
There are six pools aboard the new Seaside EVO-class, with larger pool areas and two infinity whirlpools on the outer promenade of Deck 8.
The main Long Island Pool areas has also been redesigned to feature a 360-degree water fountain island in the centre, while the Jungle Pool has been enlarged.
The MSC Yacht Club is the largest in MSC Cruises’ fleet, with 3,000 sqm of space across four decks and 41 new deluxe grand suites.
The area will feature a redesigned concierge area, with a backlit onyx wall extending across three decks and Swarovski staircases.
The private pool and sun deck have also been expanded to 2,000 square metres to include a panoramic whirlpool.

The children’s facilities have also been reimagined, with a 7,567 square-foot children’s area, the largest in the MSC fleet, boasting a futuristic theme dedicated to space and planetary exploration, spread out across six rooms.
Teens will have two exclusive rooms on the Seashore, including a multifunctional space called the Studio with a cinema, live TV Studio and a room for gamers with the latest consoles near the entrance to the kids area.
