Princess Cruises offers roundtrip cruise to South Africa from Adelaide for first time

Princess Cruises has included South Africa as one of the three international roundtrip cruise itineraries it will be offering from Adelaide for the first time during the 2019 cruise season.

“For the first time in South Australia’s cruising history, Princess Cruises will make three international roundtrips from Adelaide’s doorstop including New Zealand, Fiji and South Africa,” says Princess Cruises Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, Stuart Allison.

“We are continuing to cement our presence in the region, gearing up for our record South Australian season next year where we’ll operate an unprecedented 20 cruises to and from Adelaide – a move that represents the biggest ever cruise industry commitment to South Australia,” he added.

Allisson made the comments to Mirage News ahead of South Australia’s biggest cruise season to date, with more than 182,000 passengers expected to arrive in South Australian ports and anchorages over the next few months – 11,481 more than last year – and adding US $98-million to the local economy.

The roundtrip cruise from Adelaide to Fiji aboard Golden Princess departs on November 1st, 2019, an 18-night itinerary visiting Melbourne, New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Lautoka and Suva in Fiji.

During 2020, Golden Princess and Sapphire Princess will cruise roundtrip from Adelaide to New Zealand three times (Golden Princess on a 17-night cruise on January 8th, 2020 and Sapphire Princess on two 17-night cruises on October 26th and December 18th, 2020).

Cape Town will be the only overnight call on Sun Princess’ 55-night cruise

The 55-night Grand Voyage to South Africa will be undertaken by Sun Princess and will depart Adelaide on January 20th, 2020. It includes 17 ports of call (18 if you include the embarkation port) and will return to Adelaide on March 15th.

Sun Princess will stay overnight in Cape Town, South Africa for two nights on the cruise, the only port with an overnight call.

Destinations included in the itinerary are Margaret River, Fremantle, Albany and Port Lincoln in Australia, Singapore, Phuket in Thailand, Colombo in Sri Lanka, Mahe in the Seychelles, the island of Zanzibar off Tanzania, and Nosy Be in Madagascar before entering SA waters.

In South Africa, Sun Princess will visit Richard’s Bay and Cape Town, as well as Durban, before calling in Saint-Denis in Reunion and Port Louis in Mauritius before arriving back in Australia.
