Sea Princess will close Dubai cruise season in 2020 with cruise to Dover

Princess Cruises’ ship Sea Princess will sail from Dubai on June 3rd, 2020 on a leisurely 29-night cruise from Dubai to Dover, marking the end of the 2019/2020 cruise season in the Arabian Gulf.

The roundtrip Dubai cruise season traditionally begins in November each year and ends in March, with most of the cruise ships homeporting in the region departing on repositioning cruises by April.

However, Sea Princess’ cruise will be the last scheduled departure before the ‘summer drought’ as there are no scheduled cruise departures from Dubai between June 3rd and October 25th, 2020, when Mein Schiff 6 will begin her new Dubai season.

The months of July, August and September are the hottest of the year in the Arabian Gulf, with temperatures in Dubai regularly exceeding 45-degrees Celsius or 113-degrees Fahrenheit, making shore excursions unpractical and unpleasant.

By June, the temperature in Dubai will have reached highs of 40-degrees Celsius, with the mid 30s being the average, so passengers cruising from the city aboard Sea Princess will still be able to explore in reasonable comfort.

Sea Princess will stay just one day in port at the Dubai Cruise Terminal, before departing at 11pm on June 3rd. She’ll spend a full week at sea on the run between Dubai and Aqaba, Jordan, before crossing the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean.

Lisbon will be Sea Princess’ final port call of nine cruise destinations visited in the Mediterranean alone

In the Med, she’ll make port calls in Santorini in Greece, Sibenik in Croatia, Venice in Italy, La Valletta in Malta and Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, before crossing over to the western side of the Mediterranean to visit the French city of Cannes, Barcelona in Spain, Ceuta in Spanish Morocco and the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

Sea Princess will then cruise north to Cork in Ireland, before ending the cruise in the UK’s major shipping hub of Dover.

Sea Princess is a regular caller to Dubai. She cruises from the city at least once every year, usually on the homeward leg of her annual World Cruise. In 2019 she will be one of three Princess cruises from the city, and in 2015 she had to run from a cyclone in the Arabian Sea en-route to Dubai.
