Carnival launches inaugural 2020 cruise itineraries for new ship Mardi Gras

Carnival Cruise Line’s new ship Mardi Gras will cruise in Europe, New England and the Caribbean when she is launched in mid-2020, according to itinerary information launched by Carnival.

The cruises were opened for booking at the same time that the 5,200-passenger ship’s itineraries were revealed.

“For Mardi Gras, we’ve developed some truly exciting and diverse itineraries that will provide our guests with opportunities to experience and explore top destinations in Europe and the Caribbean,” said Carnival Cruise Line’s President, Christine Duffy. “These itineraries will serve as the perfect complement to the unique shipboard experience that Mardi Gras will offer.”

“We’ve begun releasing some of the new stateroom designs to our guests and travel agency partners as part of today’s announcement and plan to share additional details over the coming weeks,” she added.

Carnival Mardi Gras will cruise a 9-night Baltic Sea voyage from Copenhagen to Southampton on August 31st, 2020, and a 14-night trans-Atlantic cruise from Southampton to New York on September 9th, 2020, visiting the Canary Islands’ Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and the Portuguese islands of Funchal (Madeira) and Ponta Delgada, Azores.

The 15-night cruise will Amber Cove, San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk.

Carnival Mardi Gras will then homeport year-round in Port Canaveral, sailing alternating 7-night roundtrip Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.

The Eastern Caribbean cruises will stop in San Juan, Amber Cove and Grand Turk, while Western Caribbean cruises will visit Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatan.

A special 8-night cruise, her first from Port Canaveral, will depart on October 16th, 2020.

There will be 20 different cabin categories aboard Mardi Gras, as well as more suites than any other Carnival ship. She will feature six themed zones, such as a French Quarter, a backyard BBQ and a roller coaster – the first at sea.

While Carnival Mardi Gras will only sail one European cruise, Carnival Cruise Line will be returning to Europe in 2020, with itineraries aboard Carnival Legend and Carnival Radiance (which is currently sailing as Carnival Victory, but will be thoroughly refurbished and reinvented as a new ship).
