Cunard to sail longest-ever roundtrip Dubai cruise in 2019 on Queen Mary 2

The largest ocean liner in the world, Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2, will cruise from Dubai twice in 2019, with one of those being a 55-night roundtrip cruise to the Far East, the longest ever roundtrip cruise from Dubai.

On January 29th, 2019, Queen Mary will board passengers at Dubai Cruise Terminal and set off on her 55-night roundtrip voyage. The cruise can also be booked in shorter legs of 21-nights ending in Hong Kong, or 14-nights ending in Singapore.

The full itinerary, which features 25 port calls in ten different countries, can be viewed here. In four of the ports (Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tianjin) Queen Mary 2 will stay overnight, giving guests more time to explore these remarkable metropoles.

Revealing the contrasting nature of many of the port of calls, other destinations are much smaller, more undiscovered and exotic, such as Phuket, Penang, Kota and Nha Trang, where guests will have to tender ashore as Queen Mary can only anchor.

For the shorter versions of this cruise, the 21-night to Hong Kong, or the 14-night to Singapore, will likely prove popular with Middle East cruisers, who have a penchant for cruising the coast of India.

Both of these itineraries provide the opportunity to cruise the Arabian Gulf, coast of India and some of Southeast Asia, but without the Far East element of the longer roundtrip voyage.

After departing Dubai, Queen Mary 2 will visit Doha in Qatar and Muscat in Oman before crossing the Indian Ocean to spend a day in Mormugao and Goa in India, and Colombo in Sri Lanka. She’ll also visit Phuket and Penang on the way to Singapore.

For the 21-night cruise, there is an additional visit to Kotakinabulu in Malaysia before Queen Mary 2 arrives in Hong Kong, where she’ll stay overnight.

Queen Mary 2’s second cruise departure from Dubai in 2019 is a more traditional 20-night cruise from the UAE to Southampton on March 25th.

Although almost three weeks in length, this cruise is very port-lean, as are most repositioning cruises between Dubai and Europe. Queen Mary 2 will visit Salalah in Oman, Aqaba in Jordan, Limassol in Cyprus, as well as Rome, Barcelona and Lisbon before arriving in Southampton.

Queen Mary 2 will spend two to three days at sea between each port, which is ideal for us at Cruise Arabia & Africa, but might not be to everyone’s taste.
