Oceania Cruises to offer roundtrip Cape Town cruise aboard Nautica in 2019

The premium cruise line Oceania will be cruising twice from Cape Town in 2019, with its mid-size cruise ship Nautica.

Nautica will cruise roundtrip from Cape Town on January 5th on a 15-night cruise along the South African and Namibian coasts.

She’ll then return to Cape Town and depart again on January 20th on a 30-night voyage from South Africa to Singapore.

The first cruise, roundtrip from Cape Town, is likely to be popular with the South African cruise market, as the SA cruising public have proven themselves to be fond of cruising within their own country.

The 15-night voyage visits the South African ports of Mossel Bay, Richard’s Bay, Durban, East London, and Port Elizabeth, as well as Walvis Bay in Namibia and Maputo in Mozambique.

In both Durban and Walvis Bay, Nautica will stay overnight in port, giving passengers more time to explore the hinterland of the two ports.

The rolling interior beyond Durban is a major appeal for cruise passengers, so Nautica will stay overnight in port.

For Durban, the key attractions will be the wildlife reserves on the outskirts of the city, and in Walvis Bay, passengers will have the opportunity to venture into Namibia’s famous desert.

The second Cape Town cruise, departing January 20th, will once more Ping-Pong along the South African coast, visiting Port Elizabeth, Richard’s Bay, Durban, East London and Maputo in Mozambique before venturing out into the expanse of the Indian Ocean.

Other ports of call on the itinerary include Nosy Be, Madagascar; Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; Zanzibar, Tanzania; Mombasa, Kenya; Mahe, Seychelles and Male, Maldives before crossing over to Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.

Nautica will spend a night in port in Singapore on the final day of the voyage, before passengers disembark on the 18th of February. A similar itinerary is also available in reverse in 2019, with Silversea Cruises, and can be combined with a pre-voyage trip on the Eastern and Oriental Express.

Nautica’s roundtrip Cape Town cruise will be one of just five from the city in 2019, with MSC Cruises offering three aboard MSC Musica and Seabourn offering one aboard Seabourn Sojourn. Seabourn’s is the most similar to Oceania’s, with a 12-night voyage visiting the cruise ports of SA and Namibia.
